Scouts Expedition Award

11 young people from across the District braved the weather last weekend and took part in the Scout Expedition Award having completed some initial training a few weekends earlier.

The young people started their hike at Southend, a small village near Stonor Park and walked in the torrential rain to their campsite in Henley. After pitching their tents, they successfully cooked their own evening meal on trangia’s.

Day two started bright and dry and the teams set off on the second leg of their circular hike back up to Southend.

The adults were very impressed with the Scouts teamwork, resilience and sense of humour. Now they have to give a report back to their own troops, hopefully encouraging younger Scouts to take part in future expeditions.
