Scouts are
young people who want to make friends and develop widening interests in ways
that are both informative and fun. Perfect if you want a break from the
usual after-school routine of homework, video-games and watching television.
Our activities are about action and involvement and this means more than
just camping. Hiking, rock climbing, gliding, sailing, pioneering, canoeing,
parascending, abseiling, putting on shows and exhibitions, motor mechanics,
electronics, photography - the list is endless! Scouts are also given the
chance to learn skills in survival, cooking and first aid. There are often
opportunities to go abroad.
Ten teams from across the District took part in the Backwards Cooking
Competition. A team from 1st Finchampstead's Friday Troop won, but
here are the
full results.
Scouts aged 13 or more are invited to take part in the Explorers'
Cardboard Canoe Race on 18th July.

Why not have a go? In fact, last year, this event was won by a Scout Team!
The District Cooking Competition took place on 27th February at 1st
Wokingham Scout HQ. Winners were 3rd Wokingham "A" team, with 1st Emmbrook
in second and 3rd Wokingham "B" team third. That "B" team from 3rd Wokingham
also won Best Dessert. Seemed to be a fun event that the Scouts who took
part enjoyed. Now are there ambitions to be the next Ray Mears or perhaps
Raymond Blanc? Thanks to 3rd Wokingham for a couple of
photos of their
certificate winners.
