Cub Camp at Wellington Country Park |
|
|
| Over the weekend of 14/15th June
the Cub Pack camped at Wellington Country Park accompanied by one or two
Scouts and Phoenix Explorer Scouts. All the best camps have a theme and
this one was - Pirate Camp.
Here are a few
photographs taken during the weekend. |

The Pack starts the New Year |
|
|
|
| Term started with a games evening
and a welcome to Beavers coming up from the Colony. An evening on First
Aid was fun, using glitter to represent germs to ensure that simulated
cuts and grazes were properly cleaned! No fewer than 11 stage 1
Emergency Aid badges were awarded the following week! The best part of
an evening making pancakes, was testing them to make sure they were OK!
No reports of early deaths so they must have been good! A few weeks into
the year, no fewer than six Beavers swam up to the Pack and were
invested as Cubs. Chinese New Year was celebrated by spending an evening
cooking all sorts of dishes from Egg Fried Rice to Spring Rolls. There
were even a couple of meat dishes with Beef and Chicken. A busy evening
that just wouldn't have been the same without the help of all those
parents! As half term approached, Eagles Explorer Scouts ran a wide
game for the Pack in the woods behind 1st Woosehill HQ. One wonders if
washing machines will ever be the same after all the mud that went home
afterwards! Still, those who took part slept well afterwards. |

Earleywood Climbing Wall |
|
|
|
During September, the Cub Pack
spent a couple of evenings at the climbing tower at Earleywood camp site
in South Ascot. With the evenings drawing in it wasn't so much
artificial climbing by candlelight as climbing by artificial
candlelight. Kay Gambles managed to capture a few photos, but without
flash, which might of distracted the climbers, it was tricky. Have a
look.
About 10mins from
the end of the meeting Jez's generator ran out of fuel so there were
several Cubs plunged into darkness on the tower, but in true
Scouting spirit they kept going while leaders and parents alike
repositioned their cars so everyone could see what was going on.
Every Cub had more
than one go on the tower and it seems they all had a good time.
Many thanks must go to Eagles and Phoenix Explorer Scout Units who
provided some well needed belayers and also to Jez Burden and Keith
Gambles for making the evenings run smoothly with just a slight
fight with the ever diminishing light....which shouldn't be
happening for at least another three weeks.
