News
Just some snippets of news from the Group with photographs that have been passed to the webmaster
Group AGM
The Group held their AGM during a barbecue on Friday 13th June 2008. The folk that gathered were introduced to the leadership team, and reports of finances and the two existing sections showed that although a small Group, they were in great shape. There was a hope that they'd be able to find the leaders to reopen the Beaver Colony. The new Leaders were introduced and had already had an impact by putting together a web site for the Group, never mind strengthening the programme for the Cubs and Scouts. Doc was presented with a loaded digital photo frame in recognition of his 60 years in Scouting! Not many can lay claim to a figure like that! Here are some photos.
The Scouts go for their Climbers Badge
In May/June the Scouts set about completing the Climbers Badge. Under the leadership of 1st Winnersh GSL, Jez Burden, and Phoenix Explorer Leader Keith Gambles, 1st Winnersh and 3rd Wokingham Scouts did a couple of evenings' theory before going to Earleywood to put some of the lessons learnt into practice. Here are a few photos.

The Mayor's Fair for Children
At the Mayor of Wokingham's Fair for Children in the Spring, Winnersh Scouts were asked to provide refreshments and here's a picture of the crew that raised some funds for the Group in doing so.
Troop News
The Troop have been working on a number of badges, including the Hikers Badge, Swimmers Badge, Chefs Badge and the IT Badge, so a range of activities to suit all tastes.

Looking ahead, the Troop will be taking their Summer Camp at the Essex International Jamboree at Devereux Farm, just outside Kirby-Le-Soken in North East Essex, during the period 26th July to 2nd August.

Cubs' Summer Camp in Wales
On Saturday 18th August, the Pack went off to Islwyn Scout Parc Camp Site, Newbridge in Gwentfor four days of action packed fun. Activities included archery, rock climbing, a guided tour around a coal mine, not to mention a visit to a castle and museum in Abergavenny. There was also a dragons' picnic on a hill top with a few views and a go at building shelters from natural materials in the nearby forest. There are just a few photos here.
Cubs at Marchants Hill Activity Centre
Some members of the Cub Pack joined other members of the District at Marchants Hill Activity Centre for a weekend's fun back in October. Here are some pictures taken by Jeremy and there are more on the Cubs page.
Leader Vacancies

New Leaders are always welcome, but what the Group would really like to do is to reopen the Beaver Colony, so they are looking for enthusiastic young people and mums to join them. Training is offered, but enthusiasm to match that of 6 and 7 year olds is what is paramount. And you can have just as much fun as these young people.

Do come and talk to us, or you can reach us by e-mail at info@wokinghamscouts.org.uk or you can phone on 07092 807 586 which will put you through to the Berkshire Opportunities Help Desk answer phone. Be sure to leave your name and contact details. Or fill in a form at this page.
